Happy New Year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Yes, I know. It’s off to a crazy start. But fear not . . . Main Street Yoga is still here to provide you with respite and sanctuary . . . in person and online.

If you’re wondering why it’s taken me so long to get out a “Happy New Year” message, it’s because there is so much going on at the studio this month! My current group of yoga teacher trainees are nearing the end of the 200-hour training that began in June of 2020 and three of them are offering classes at MSY.

  • Sonya Hardesty will offer a New Moon Flow on Thursday, January 14th and a Full Moon Flow on Thursday, January 28th. Both classes are at 5:30pm and will be offered online and in the studio. These are donation-based classes that will benefit the Marion County Humane Society. Sonya is fascinated with mudra and loves to incorporate it in her yoga teaching. We’re learning a lot from her, and you will too.

  • Mark Benincosa will offer “Water and Wind Yoga” on Monday, January 18th and “Fire and Earth Yoga” on Monday, January 25th. Both classes are at 6pm. Mark is an instructor of music technology at WVU and has composed music for meditation that incorporates binaural beats! He comes to us with a martial arts background, which he uses to infuse his classes with innovation and fun.

  • Holly Pickens will offer “Go with the Flow Yoga” on Saturday, January 30th at 11am. This donation-based class will benefit Bonnie’s Bus, a mobile mammography unit that travels across West Virginia, offering breast cancer screening. Holly’s teaching style is thoughtful and, true to her profession as a public-school teacher, filled with insight and information that adds a deeper layer of meaning to the physical practice. Her classes leave us feeling grounded and extraordinarily relaxed!

In addition to these special classes, I’m happy to announce that Jen is back on Tuesday evenings offering both Vinyasa and Evening Yoga. You can also catch her on Saturday mornings for Flow Yin Meditation. Paula will continue to offer “Balance & Breath” every Monday at 4:30 and “Hip Hop Flow” every other Monday at 6:00. Alex White, who is also nearing the end of her 200-hour training at MSY will continue to offer “Bend & Balance” every Friday at 5:30.

As for me, you can always count on “Beginners Yoga” on Wednesdays at 5:30 and on Sundays at 5:00. I’m still offering Yin Yoga every other Sunday, but the time has moved to 3:30 until spring. Restorative Yoga will be offered one time for the remainder of January: Thursday the 21st at 5:30. 

As for special events, Jen and Paula are offering a “Reiki and Reading Saturday Special” on January 16th. There are only two spots left, so snag yours now!

I have a few special offerings up my sleeve as well. First, I’m offering a FREE workshop on Wednesday the 13th at 6:45. “Set Your Vision for 2021” will be an evening of community, meditation, mindfulness, and intention-setting. 2020 challenged all of us in ways we didn't expect. Now it's time to take what we've learned and use it to design happier, healthier, more integrated versions of our selves. I’m here to help you do that!
