300-Hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training
Now offering two formats: “Fast Track” and Modular
Advanced Yoga Teacher Training at Main Street Yoga
Main Street Yoga has been a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School since 2019. 300-Hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training at Main Street Yoga was born out of and designed around requests from our 200-Hour RYS graduates and from other RYT 200 teachers at our studio who express a desire to elevate their teaching and the practice of yoga by being more attentive and responsive to the immediate needs of their students and to design classes that are more meaningful and useful to their students.
Advanced yoga teacher training is a time to embody all that yoga has to offer. For that reason, the MSY 300-Hour teacher training program is designed to be practicum-based. While trainees will study yoga history and philosophy along with anatomy and Ayurveda, the true source of learning in our school is:
our time together – time spent in practice, contemplation, and discussion;
the trainees’ own daily practice of all eight limbs of yoga as well as Ayurveda; and
the time the trainees spend teaching, both during training hours and in between training sessions.
Trainees will learn, practice and teach in each and every training session. With an emphasis on accessibility, the objective of every student-teaching assignment is to help trainees become comfortable with teaching off the mat, with minimal demonstration at the front of the room, so that they can observe their students and offer them appropriate modifications, adjustments, and assists.
Trainees will also practice the art of sequencing, designing everything from short pose blocks to full-length classes with a particular objective or theme in mind. The objectives and themes that we will explore in depth come from our study of anatomy as well as the ancient teachings of Yoga and Ayurveda. With a deeper understanding of these teachings, trainees will naturally be drawn to designing the transformational classes that today’s yoga students are looking for.
Finally, trainees will learn the Sanskrit names of asanas, pranayamas, meditation techniques, and philosophical ideas so that they can understand the precision and value of the original language of Yoga and learn when, where, and how to use it in their teaching in order to enrich their students’ practice and understanding of Yoga.
DELIVERY
Main Street Yoga keeps its training groups small, and lead trainer Angela Hammond is present at every in-person training session. Yoga teacher trainees can expect personal attention and feedback from Angela at each session. In between training sessions, trainees have direct access to Angela via email, text, and phone. She will also host live monthly online meetings that include a Q&A session.
Yoga Alliance has approved our application for online teaching, allowing us to deliver some (or all) of the required training hours in an online format. Main Street Yoga has designed a training program that blends live, in-person training sessions (75% of the total training hours) with pre-recorded online training modules (20%) and live online meetings (5%).
