So you want to try yoga, but you're not sure where to start. Or maybe you've done some online yoga at home, but you're not sure you're doing it "right." And you're a little afraid of stepping into a random class and feeling like you have no idea what you're doing. We get it! Because we've all been there.
This workshop is designed for those who are new or "newish" to yoga. It's the workshop we wish had been available to us when we first got started. We'll aim to answer all of your questions about what yoga is (paying attention to your body and mind) and what it isn't (doing crazy poses that you see on social media). We'll explain the different classes and styles of yoga we offer at MSY so that you can make an informed decision about what to try first.
Of course, we'll also introduce you to the poses and flows that you're most likely to see in any yoga class, and we'll show you how to practice them safely and adapt them to your unique body. So wear clothing that allows you to move freely (fancy yoga clothes are NOT required). Bring a mat if you have one (we have some available to borrow if you don't). We provide any other props you might need (blocks, blankets, bolsters, and straps), AND we'll show you how to use them!
