November at MSY

This is it. November. Two months left in 2020. The warm weather is coming to an end; fall sports are winding down; and there are already way too many Facebook posts about “the holidays.” But at Main Street Yoga, November is packed with events and fun things to do!

Let’s start with our monthly offerings. Our Relax & Recharge Open House is held the first Friday of every month. This month, that’s November 1st from 5 to 7pm. Walk in any time between 5 and 7 and treat yourself to a relaxing evening. The third Friday of every month brings another opportunity for you to unwind at MSY with Sharon Hovland’s Singing Bowls Sound Bath. Join Sharon on November 15th at 6pm to experience deep sonic relaxation. Also back this month is Jen and Paula’s AromaTouch and Reiki Afternoon Special on November 9th. Melt your stress away, refresh your energetic system, and enjoy the many benefits of these two wonderful self-care options!

Now, on to our special events!!!

First up, Stacey Fox is ready to help you take the fear out of yoga inversions. If you’ve always wanted to get into headstand, forearm stand, or handstand, but you just haven’t had the confidence to try it, then you won’t want to miss Fear Free Inversions on November 3rd. Let Stacey help you gain the knowledge and confidence to safely approach these inverted postures and begin integrating them into your yoga practice. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.

On Friday, November 8th, MSY is thrilled to welcome the one and only Melita Mollohan into the studio for one of her powerful breathwork circles! Breathwork is an ancient healing modality used to release stagnant energy, pain, discomfort, and trauma stuck within the physical and emotional bodies. Beginners are always welcome and encouraged to join the circle! Wear comfortable clothing and come as you are. There is no physical yoga practice. These events usually sell out, so make sure you reserve your spot today! If you have any questions do not hesitate to reach out to Melita: melita@zenfromwithin.com

If immersing yourself in the world of essential oils sounds like a fabulous way to spend some time, don’t miss Jen and Paula’s Scan and Sniff event on Saturday, November 9th. Walk in anytime between 10:30am and 12:15pm to receive an iTovi scan that will reveal the essential oils you need most right now! You’ll discuss your results with Jen and Paula, and they’ll educate you about the oils and how to use them. Later that afternoon, Paula is holding a “make and take” event, “I Wish I Felt . . . ,“ where you can create essential oil blends tailored to your needs. Follow Paula on Facebook for further details and to keep up with all of her essential oil offerings.

What are your wellness goals? Whether you want to lose weight, eat better, sleep better, function better on a daily basis, reduce common aches and pains, or simply dive deeper into your already healthy lifestyle, your solution comes down to better self care. But where do you start? On November 10th, I’ll clue you in to two habits you can start using right away to begin your shift into feeling better in your body. Body Wisdom: A Free Talk About Better Self Care is a free event that is open to everyone, yogis and non-yogis alike.

If you love receiving reiki, join Jen on November 16th for Illuminated Reiki 1 Training. Open your energy channels and learn this ancient healing practice. With a Reiki 1 attunement, you can access reiki energy on your own and assist yourself and your loved ones in receiving and balancing energy with grace and ease. In training, you will learn hand placements, personal energy management, about the chakras, receive the Reiki attunement, an informational guide, and more! Email Jennifer with any questions: illuminationhealing8@gmail.com.

In the yoga tradition, the breath is said to carry a person's life force. Learn how to tap into yours on November 17th at Breathe: An Introduction to Pranayama. Pranayama is the fourth of the 8 limbs of yoga, falling in between asana (the poses) and meditation. A pranayama practice is based on various ways of lengthening, deepening, retaining, and otherwise regulating the breath. In this workshop, we'll explore and experience this set of breathing techniques designed to control our life force energy. Yoga teachers can earn 2.5 contact hours of continuing education. Space is limited, and pre-registration is required.

Thanksgiving weekend brings us a whole host of special events, starting with Awakening Agni on Thanksgiving morning. Join me for an energizing flow designed to stoke your digestive fire! That evening, Samantha is offering a gentle flow and yin class designed to help you rest and digest. (Stay tuned to our website and to Facebook for further details.) Each class is $12 drop-in or use your class pass.

On Black Friday, Pure Bliss is back!!! For this special two-hour restorative yoga class, you'll experience a full sensory immersion that includes singing bowls, reiki, the AromaTouch hand technique, and relaxing hands-on assists to help you get the most out of your restorative practice. Space is limited to 12 students, and this event always sells out, so register early.

Shop small and support your favorite little studio at our Small Business Saturday Open House! All MSY store items will be 20% off. 5 and 10 class packages will be available at 10% off! Pop-up shops will include Paula's essential oils, Jen's crystals, mini reiki sessions, and Dharma Yoga bags. If you're interested in setting up a pop-up shop contact Angela at mainstreetyogafmt@gmail.com

If your family is like mine, Thanksgiving seems like a prime time for people to ask each other what they want for Christmas. This year, tell your family you’d like to come with me to “Unwind and Align” in Costa Rica next November, so they can help you set up your travel fund. It’s going to be an unforgettable experience! If you register before January 1st, you’ll save $300 on shared accommodations (and yes, you can request a specific roommate, so talk your favorite person into coming with you). $350 saves your spot!

One last bit of housekeeping: Stacey is switching up her Monday evening class. “Yoga for Strength” is out, and “Peaceful Slow Flow” is in! So if you’ve been avoiding Mondays because the sound of “Yoga for Strength” scared you, you have no more excuses. And if you loved “Yoga for Strength,” “slow is the new strong” just might become your new mantra.

Whew! That’s a lot of great stuff! Get it on your calendar now so that you don’t miss out!

See you at the studio!
